My Dyson Vacuum Cleaner DC17 Allergy model pulls out a lot of…

I bought a Dyson DC17 vacuum cleaner (Allergy model) and each time I use it on my wall to wall carpet, it pulls out a lot of carpet fiber. There is no height adjustment feature and I am afraid it will eat up my carpet eventually. I have a nice expensive carpet and I am afraid this vac cleaner will ruin it.
Any advise?

  1. well if this is just a new vacuum it could be ridding your carpet of the loose fibers and not pulling them out. so i suggest just keep using it because the allergy model has a higher vacuum. and see if in about 2 weeks if it is doing the same thing that i would call the person/place that installed the carpet and ask them what you should do. or dyson to see if this is normal.

  2. There is a brush control button next to the on/off switch. You can turn the brushbar off when you vacuum, if you are concerned about your carpet.

If it is new carpet, you will see quite a few fibers, especially in a Dyson. This should taper off the more you use it. If it doesn’t, then turn off the brushbar.
