How do I clean my Betta Tank gravel?

I have 2.5 gallon fish tank with a betta, and I don’t have any filter or anything like that, just the fish, tank, gravel, and some decorations. What is a way I can clean the gravel of all the fecal matter and I don’t really want to buy a gravel vacuum thing. Any simple suggestions?

  1. did u get a cup for transport?pour some water in that, put the fish in that, drain the bowl’s water.wash it.DO NOT use soap.and make sure u wash the gravel too. then pour in new water, use your water conditioner for the fish, and put it back in.

  2. ummm what you should do it go to meijers or wal mart and they have this tube vaccum in a pet isle or you can just go to a pet store and they will have them when or if you buy it all you have to do is just take the tube end but a wash rag and it and suck it until water comes up far enough for you to take you mouth off but have a bucket to put the tube in so it can clean it and move the big tube end that connects to the smaller tube around the bottom of the tank but first take out your fish and put them in a bowl or got one of those tank holders and they hold on to your tank socan put you fish in it then just refill it with fresh temp. water and your fish will be all set P.S dont forget to put the rocks back in but if their big (the rocks) then they wont get sucked up

  3. i would put the gravel in my hands and let the water hit it! it worked for me but it wasnt really gravel just big rocks.

  4. I usually take the gravel out and use run hot water over it and then I dump it out and do it again. Do it how ever many times it takes to get it as clean as you want.

  5. turkey baster can be used to pick up poop
or u know those water droppers that scientists use? or those measure water droppers?
all can pick up poop or visible debris
get a whisper filter that fits your 2.5 tank
they make em for 1-3 gallon tanks
    then you’ll be straight
and also get a heater for a 1-3 gallon tank
then you’ll be really straight set
    good luck.

i have all these for my 2 gallon.

  6. What I would do personally is to take the betta out and put it in a cup somewhere (it’ll only be in there for 5 minutes or so so don’t worry.) =]

Takeout 50% of the water and put it in a bowl or something. Be sure not to stir the water up. If you don’t have a filter, only the bottom will be filled with debris.

Then just run the gravel in hot water, pour the water out, and repeatfor about four more times. When you pour the water in the tank, it stirs up the feces so that you can easily pour them out. The hot water is just to kill any bacteria that may harm your fish.

Afterwards, put some fresh water in your tank, condition it, and pour the water in the bowl back in. This is kind of like performing a 50% water change. Floating your betta is recommended as the water temperature may be just a tad different. (You may not notice the degree difference but your betta will).
