question about vacuuming pool?

we had a problem with algae in our pool when we opened it this year, which led to a cloudy pool when we cleared it up. I was told to put something in it that drops all the particles to the bottom so you can vacuum them, but everytime I try and vacuum it just stirs everything up! Our pool has not gotten any cleaner and the vacuuming just doesn’t seem to help. any tips or ideas?

  1. Maybe you don’t have enough suction? Is the filter clean? Are the main drain and other valves open? When you start to vacuum, is the water coming out the jets cloudy?
You could try running the pool on the main drain only for a day or two, perhaps nudging the fine particles towards the drain with your brush… slow and gentle.

  2. As I said, I think you need to shock it (super clorinate) and put in some algaeside. Both available at any hardware or pool store. Directions are on the bottle. 🙂

  3. One thing about vacuuming is that you have to go really really slow and keep the vacuum on the bottom, so that it sucks it up without stirring it up again… Takes forever but will work with patients…
