Can I use duct tape to hold together a broken Dirt Devil vacuum…

I accidentally broke the belt on the vacuum cleaner and my grandpa plans on getting a new one this weekend. The problem is that I’m sneezing my head off because my cousin brought her cats over and I’m allergic to them. Can I just duct tape up the belt and vacuum the cat hair up?

  1. There isn’t any kind of tape or repair that will be strong enough to fix a broken drive belt, sorry. Don’t even waste any time, effort, or money to attempt it because it simply won’t work I wish I had better news for you, but I don’t want you to fool around with something that will not help your situation.

You need a new belt or a new vacuum cleaner. If the machine is old, then it may not be worth fixing, but if its relatively new, then ask gramps to replace the belt as soon as he can. You could do this yourself, by the way, because its not that complicated. You just need the manufacturer and model number to find a new belt. If its a common brand like yours is, you should be able to find it at a local home center or discount retailer. The package will have directions on it and it will be easier than trying to do fix the old one with duct tape, which just won’t work.

Hope you get it all sorted out, because allergies are a pain.
