split system install, help?

okay so i bought a small panasonic split system not realising the cost of install 😛 iv done some work in refrigeration, so i think ill just install it myself and get a sparky to wire it in, i don’t have a vac pump so ill have to get a friend to vacuum the air out of the coil. is there any other tips or tricks i should know about ?

  1. Make sure the mounting bracket is level for proper drainage of the condensate.
The flare fitting connections may need to be re-flared. The factory flaring job is usually poor.
Use some refrigeration oil on the flare where the nut would ride against so when tightening it does not twist the copper and will help make the tightest seal.
The most common place I find leaks on these systems is at the connections for the line set and indoor section. It’s usually from a poor flare or connections not tight.
Use solid plastic pipe such as CPVC for the drain rather than vinyl tubing if possible.
This job should be no problem for you to do.
