  1. A broom. It sounds silly, but I went without a vacuum for a long time, and it works. Almost better, because it fluffs up the carpet a little more. Kinda hard on the arms though.

  2. Broom, dust pan, dust rag, mop and water bucket were the standard cleaning tools long before vacuum cleaners were invented.

  3. This is method I use for cleaning carpeted steps without lugging a vacuum up and down. Take a wash cloth or a dish towel. Wet the cloth with cold water and ring it out once. The cloth should not be dripping, only moist. Drape the cloth over your hand so that you are wearing it like a mitten. Just wipe the surface of the carpet in ONE DIRECTION lightly. I wipe towards myself. This will collect any animal hair, crumbs and dust, whatever. Works great on stairs

  4. Wow.. im surprised anyone haven’t got a better method of cleaning their homes.. What you can do, is to clean using a new technology called the Vacuum Robot – it’s able to clean 90% of your area Automatically!
