A GREAT bagless vacuum, but be aware of what you are buying,
DISCUSSION:
We have a larger house and so prefer to have 2 vacuums for different areas (carpet vs tile floors). For example there is no power brush on the floor attachment of this vacuum so it works best on smooth surfaces such as wood or tile floors. My petite wife Really likes it because it is light weight and easy to maneuver which is a big plus. After all we men sometimes forget who it is that normally performs the vacuuming in a house. As the man of the house I have volunteered to clean the vacuum when necessary so have lots of experience with that part of it. Cleaning is a little messy but no big deal. If you prefer not having the convenience of a vacuum that uses a replaceable bag then REGULAR CLEANING IS REQUIRED. We have had this vacuum for just over a year and it has given us no problems at all. All the attachments including the hose are very sturdy and obviously designed to last. Its used weekly.
I would like to offer my compliments to the engineers who designed this vacuum. Of the 4 different bagless vacuums I have had experience with this one is by far the easiest to clean. You simply push a button and the bottom trap door falls open and all the larger debris simply falls into the trash can. Great!! The filter is simply removed with the pull of a finger and is really easy to get to.
Vacuums are air cooled machines. This particular vacuum is designed in such a way that the electric motor gets maximum air flow via impeller which can greatly increase the effiency and life span. As with ALL vacuums the circulating air that keeps the electric motor from overheating is the same air that is sucking up the dirt – so again regular cleaning is vital. Just remember that lots of dirt in your vacuum means your house is dirty AND the vacuum is doing a very good job at what it was designed to do. I personally choose to clean the vacuum after every time my wife uses it. It does get dirty very quickly.
As with most things, there are pros and cons to bag vs bagless vacumms. Canister vacuums of this size without a replaceable bag require frequent cleaning otherwise they lose suction quickly. Also the air passing over the motor while running is what keeps it cool and an overheated electric motor simply doesn’t last very long. So my suggestion is if you don’t want to clean your vacuum very often get a vacuum that uses disposable bags. Afterall the dirt doesn’t just disappear by magic. Cleaning any bagless vacuum can be a little messy if you haven’t learned the technique. And it is much easier just to replace a bag when the old one gets about half full on a bag type vacuum than to empty the dirt and clean the filters often which is required if you want your bagless vacuum to operate efficiently.
PROS:
1) Great value – you really do get what you pay for.
2) Does a good job of doing what is what designed for.
3) Light weight and easy to move around the house (wife loves that part).
4) Great design for ease of emptying dirt and cleaning.
5) Powerful 12 AMPERE motor for a vacuum of this size.
6) Quality materials used for hose and attachments.
CONS: 1) A bagless vacuum – requires regular and sometimes frequent cleaning. It is definitely more messy than changing a bag.
SUMMARY: A great vacuum that does exactly what is was designed to do very well.
