Best vacuum cleaner for carpets and long hair?

I have wall to wall carpeting and long hair – a terrible combination.

Can anyone reccomend a good vacuum cleaner for me? I want something that will actually get the hair out of the carpets and not let it get stuck on the rollers.

The cheaper the better.

Thanks!

  1. The Dyson DC17 is fantastic ! The only downfall is the cost, over $500 but worth every cent. I believe you can buy reconditioned Dysons for considerably less. Good Luck!

  2. My parents just invested in a dyson that was labeled specifically for pets in the household. We have two cats and two dogs, one with long hair. This machine does the trick. I never thought we could be pet-hair free and still have all my guys in the house! The machine is amazing!

It was expensive but worth it in the long run. Has not clogged at all!

  3. This is going to sound odd, but once you decide what you want check out the local pawn shops. They sometimes have nearly new stuff for cheap, cheap prices. Usually the stuff is better than what you’d get at Goodwill or some place like that. Also, consider outlet stores. However, you have to be careful. Just because they say "outlet" doesn’t always mean it will be cheaper.

  4. The best vacuum is a water- based vacuum. A Delphin or a Rainbow are the only water based brands I’ve heard of. Some people hate dumping out the nasty water after each use, but at least you are getting the hair and dirt out of your home. They are pricey, but they are worth it. You can also put fragrance in the water while you are vacuuming and the house smells really clean, it’s kind of a motivational tool!! lol If you aren’t going to get a water based machine, buy the $40 cheapo, if they have a paper filter or bag they lose airflow and won’t last long anyways. I used to sell Delphins, so I know all the scams out there. lol Hope this helps!!

  5. you want the dyson pet hair removal one its kind of expensive but it will do the trick its about 399-499

  6. We found our vacuum which actually came out to be pretty inexpensive and we found it at Best Buy while googling it. It’s a Hoover Elite Rewind. 99 bux and it’s a bagless plus you can retract the cord after you’re done with it.

  7. It is called a miracle, but, you have to wait for one. The very thing that picks up stuff from the carpet is what the hair is going to wrap around. Buy a vacuum that allows the roller and belt to be changed without tools.

  8. I, too, an looking for a good vacuum. I have 6 cats! I now have a Eureka, and I really love it. It has lasted sooo long! But now I’m going for a Dyson cauz someone told me they are GREAT for pet fur. I know you are talking about your hair, but basically, the same thing! Good luck!

  9. That’s like asking for a Mercedes that costs under $1,000. It ain’t gonna happen. Both my husband and I have long hair, so I’ve had to deal with this quite a bit. Look for a vacuum that has a wooden beater (roller) instead of plastic. You can cut it off every once in a while with a utility knife.

So, I guess your choice is either do a little maintenance on your vacuum every two months or cut your hair.
