the best vacuum for carpets I have ever used,
I own an all-metal Tri-Star cannister vacuum, which is still the best all-round vacuum you can buy. But lugging it out just to vacuum an area rug with pet-hair (I have 2 dogs & a cat) is a bit of a chore, so I bought this & keep it in a corner of my BR. It, too, has all–metal parts where it counts (beater brush, the entire bottom, & long handle). It’s suction on carpets is actually BETTER than my Tri-Star, the bag is huge & thus doesn’t need changing for about a month, & the CPU-1T is actually a ‘professional/industrial model. At the price I paid, it was an excellent buy & I expect it to last for years. I’ve tried cheap plastic vacuums for this ‘quick -pick-up-pet hair-role’, but never again –I have found my solution.

I’ve been through my share of vacuums and have despised them all. This one is a stand out, and now I vacuum much more frequently.
The beater bar is self leveling so there is no manual carpet level adjustment. This vacuum really digs down into the carpet and does a very nice job cleaning. Choose something else to clean hardwood and tile, as this is best on carpet only. There is no burnt vacuum smell as the intake bypasses the motor.
This vacuum is light weight and easy to lug up and down stairs. I do wish it had the addition of a handle near the base to assist w/ stairs. I don’t bother with the hose for cleaning stairs and just use the vacuum’s beater bar. The cord is 20′ long. If you need a longer cord, consider the commercial model.
The beater bar is closer to the right edge than the left, so use the right side to clean near edges. The headlight is bright.
The hose is very short but ideal for edges and base boards. If you want to use a hose for draperies, furniture, and corner cobwebs, you will need to order a hose kit.
Good quality bags are important as this is the primary form of filtration. The Panasonic U or Riccar Type A bags both work, but I prefer the Riccar as they fit better.
Bottom line, this is great for carpets and is a sufficient alternative to the $800 plus Sebo and Miele. Even the dog likes this one better. Skip the Dyson, as you will only be heartbroken that it’s just an overpriced Panasonic w/ some colorful plastic and good advertising tactics.

Had a vacuum for years that I was happy with. When it finally quit working, I attempted to replace it with the same. I could only get the newer version. Big mistake. From the first use I hated everything about it but because of the $ investment, I suffered for another 5 years. Hooray! It finally broke. I researched for 2 weeks,in an attempt to avoid similar problems. Based on my personal needs, I came across this. How many ways can I say that I love it? It’s simple, straight forward,uncomplicated. It has a very bright headlight. Good. It’s easy to push around. Another good.Goes from carpet to throw rug with ease and no gaps. More good. And here’s the cincher, for me: it easily picks up all dog hair. I have 3 dogs and lots of hair. No longer a problem. I love this vacuum so much that I make people vacuum my house so that they can experience it. Rather than think that I’m weird, they are anxious to solve their own vacuum problems and readily take me up on the opportunity. So far, most have been convinced. One person wanted all the bells and whistles. For me, quality wins out every time and this is truly quality.
