So far so good…,
I was concerned about the bad reviews but so far (just received it today) I think it does the job.
I was also concerned when I received it – I was hoping it would have natural boar bristles but it does not – they are completely nylon. I was worried this would mean it wouldn’t generate enough static to pick up dust/debris.
We have a (very) low-pile carpet which it seems to pick things up on and it definitely is working on our wood floors (which are most of what we have in our house).
I wanted it to be able to keep up with sweeping (without using a broom which ends up kicking up dust and pushing a lot of the dirt into the cracks between our floorboards), the carpet and I wanted to make sure it would pick up kitty litter.
It does pick up kitty litter on our wooden floor. Not perfectly – but quickly and much easier than having to pull the vacuum out.

UPDATE
I just wanted to add – I’ve had this for a couple of weeks or more now – that this seems to pick up thing that a normal broom doesn’t. While a broom might get some more of the fine dust than maybe this gets – this picks up a lot more hair. I am usually using it to pick up little things that I see – crumbs, kitty litter, ext – but when I empty it I am surprised to find it full of hair (both mine and my cats) that I didn’t realize was even on the floor.
One word of caution – it says to tip the broom upside down to empty it. When inspecting it (with kitty litter inside) – as I tipped the whole thing at an angle what was in side dumped out! (And I wasn’t trying to empty it at that point).
I found that you can pretty easily open up the trap doors still holding it upright and it seems best if you don’t tip the whole thing around too much if you don’t want things to spill out.
I will do an update if my opinion changes. The nylon bristles are a bummer (I think) but not worth paying for the more costly versions I don’t think…
