  1. First, try to find your user manual. Okay, ok, nobody ever reads their users manual. Next, after you can’t find it, get a piece of paper and pen and sit down on the floor next to your vacuum. Write down the make (simplicity?) and model number (also important), then put that aside. Now turn the vacuum on its side and see if the bottom has a latch or lever of some kind that releases the bottom. The goal here is to find a way to remove the bottom, then the roller, then the belt. If you get things released, first check to see if the belt has slipped off. Maybe you’ll be lucky and you can slip it back onto the motor spindle(the steel thing that spins fast and moves the belt). Check the belt for melting, burning, or cracks. If you’re this far, it might be smart to just replace it. If you have lots of money, just call a vacuum repair shop and give them the make and model number to see if they can fix it for you (easier, but much more $$). If you buy a belt, buy 2 and keep it near the attachments.
