  1. We have 3 dogs in the house, Corgi who are know be big shedders, Collie/Golden mix with long hair and a Shepherd/Chow with shorter hair but he sheds a lot. Our house doesn’t smell (I always ask my guests) and no obvious dog hair.

When you bring your dog in from outside, wipe off their feet to get off wet and loose dirt, rub them down to dry off any wet on their fur. Mine all stand in the laundry room when I say ‘muddy feet’ and they know they are going to get rubbed down with an old towel, none of them object at all.

I also brush the dogs every couple of days to get loose hair off and one of my dogs liked to be vacuumed (?) so I do that about once a week.

Get a good vacuum cleaner and use it every couple of days, we have mostly rugs downstairs and I keep the dogs downstairs during the day.

If you are going to spray scented things around, check the ingredients to be sure it is safe for pets. We live in an extremely cold climate but at the weekends, try to open the windows up for a few minutes to get some fresh air in her.

This seems to work for us and I hope it help. Best wishes

  2. get rid of the carpet – it retains a lot that the vacuum doesn’t pick up.

  3. I use a small amount of bleach mixed with water when cleaning my carpets. Bleach kills odors. I hate my carpet it was old when we moved in. I guess I am weird for bleaching my carpet, but hey it works for me. Most days before I vacuum, I sprinkle baking soda on my carpet and let it sit for a few minutes.

I use a wet washcloth to wipe down the sofa where my one dog leans against (gets ultra hairy) and the cloth gets it off.

If my dogs have really muddy paws, I get 2 buckets..to wash then rinse their paws so not to trck mud all over.

  4. Vaccuming is not enough. I use febreeze pet odor eliminator and glade pet odor carpet fresh… glade scented candles are good too.

  5. I vacuum about 1x every 2 weeks, and my house is clean, and the dog brushed, and no smell…IDK but urine is usually the cause of odors in a house, not the dog

  6. At my Vet’s office, we sell "Pet Odor Eliminator" candles. They are only sold through vets, see if you can find a vet that carries them in your area! They work wonders! I also spray "Buddy Wash" perfume on my dog a few days a week.
