Electrolux Twinclean Z8240

1800w Electrolux Twinclean Z8240. The colour is ‘Clear Bahama’. This is the TOL British version, with the powerhead. The powerhead has a small 50w motor-driven brush-roll with 4 rows of bristles, 2 stiff and 2 softer. It self-adjusts to different floor-types. The larger powerheads, available in the US, are not offered over here. Its compact size makes it great for getting into small spaces, and it does a brilliant job with surface debris and pet hair. You switch the cleaner on and off, and vary between high and low speed, via the 3 push-buttons on the handgrip. The upholstery nozzle and crevice tool are stored under the handgrip. Annoyingly, there’s no storage facility for the dusting brush! The Twinclean is a very good cleaner – sturdy and well-made. It has a seal of approval from the Good Housekeeping Institute. Performance is very good too, and it’s very quiet in operation. The bin is easy to empty, but a bit small. This model’s most unique feature is it’s filter system; 2 identical filter cartriges are mounted on a carousel. When the warning light comes on, telling you the filter’s dirty, you rotate the carousel, then the cleaner comes on and sucks the clogged filter clean while you rotate it by hand. This system eliminates the need to take the cartrige outside and brush and tap it clean, with dust flying everywhere! The cheaper Z8220 is white and red (or Hallon Berry!), and lacks the powerhead or finger-tip controls.

  1. I sold this cleaner months ago – I’m afraid there will be no further TwinClean videos!

    Sorry!

  2. There’s a seller on eBay who’s selling them at £54 plus p&p. Great bargain, since they’re about £200 from most retailers! I’ll try and do an emptying video when I get a chance.

  3. Very VERY nice! How much did that set you back then? Can you show how you empty it in a vid please? I had a Lux Cylcone XL but wasn’t keen on the twist power on/off.
