Fleas, boric acid, and using the vacuum?

I have fleas in the house. I haven’t seen many but I’m trying to catch it before it gets too bad. I’ve read that each time I vacuum the carpet I should replace the bag. The bags are expensive, so I was wondering if I put flea powder in the bag would that help kill the fleas that may be inside of it. Next, I’ve read that a mixture of boric acid and salt can be used like flea powder, instead of pesticides for fleas. Anybody have any info, tips or suggestions?

  1. I would not try it. boric acid is very toxic to animals & humans. It should only be used in areas they people & animals will not come in contact with it. Ex, behind the frig, stove and dishwasher.
As for flea powder, i don’t think it would do any harm on not changing the vacuum bag every time you use it. 🙂

  2. Using salt is the safer bet. No using flea powder will not kill inside the bag not do flea collars. The reason is to remove the fleas & keep them from reproducing, laying more eggs & the eggs you have vacuumed up from hatching inside the bag which they will do. Find a way to dump contents of bag & seal that bag or change vacuums. The eggs are seal proof so nothing you can put inside of vacuum that will kill them & the adult fleas will simply move away from any product inside of bag.
