Hoover vacuum troubles?

I have a 2nd hand Hoover Spirit upright baggless vacuum. It looks kind of like this except more 1992ish– http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31…

When I brought it home it worked fine and its been used by my roommates a few times since then. But now for some reason when I turn it on the only part that becomes suctiony is the extendable hose thing. I can not figure out how to get it back to regular old vacuum suction and/or get the little twirly brush thats underneath there moving again. I feel like its something really simple like a button I need to push or something I’m supposed to unscrew but I can’t for the life of me figure out what it is. I doubt that its broken since it worked fine a while ago. And I really don’t want to vacuum my whole house with that little hose. So help me please!
Oh sorry, thats a Hover SPRINT, not Spirit (is it matters)

  1. On that Hoover, you should find a slide-type switch ( most likely a dial-type switch) that will designate ‘floor/accessory’, the like
    Dial to floor
If beater bar is not spinning, belt is broken and needs to be replaced with a new belt

  2. if the brush is not turning around the drive belt probably broke.
they look like a big rubber band.
do you see a loose piece of rubber inside?
take it to a small appliance repair store, they will have the belts and show you how to replace them, they usually sell them 2 per pack since they break often.
this will get the brush spinning again.
