How do I get easter egg dye out of the carpet?

My rotten kids got into one of the boxes and crushed a red dye tablet. So the dried crushed tablet got into the floor. I tried to vacuum it up first, but nothing. I have tried soap and water and even alcohol at this point. Does anyone have any tips? It is lighter, but it is still a big red/pink stain. The carpet is a dark grey/brown color.

  1. We just had an Easter egg accident, and we used vinegar, and then "Capture" (a carpet cleaning product from Sears. It got most of the blue dye out…now there’s just a faint hue that isn’t really visible unless you know where to look 😉 Good luck!

  2. If none of those ideas above works, it’s time to buy new carpet or move some furniture around! Aren’t our kids wonderful?

  3. If you have a safeway near you they have an amazing carpet cleaner called the rug doctor. Its about 30 bucks to rent (plus a 10 dollar down deposit which you get back once you return it) And you do have to buy the solution but thats about 8 dollars here. It works AMAZINGLY and gets pretty much any stain imaginable out. I have had to use it in many sticky situations. and they never run out of them! Just go to the customer service desk and ask them for one and they will grab it from the back for you. Good luck!
