The sound of a vacuum cleaner drives me insane…..is there any that is really quiet or even silent?

Check out the Miele brand vacuums. The S5 have a new silence setting. Great vacuum.
My Roomba is pretty darn quiet. It’s not silent, but you can turn it on close the door to the room it is cleaning and then it is almost silent. If you walk into another room you won’t hear it at all. My oldest child was terrified of the sound of the vacuum when she was little, so I went on an all out hunt for a quiet vacuum. The Roomba was the best option.
A Roomba is close to silent.
None that are totally silent, no. But the "built-ins" are generally the quietest, since the motor and vacuum unit itself is much further from the operator. The unit can be down in the basement, and you plug the hose into a hole in the wall. The sound of the suction through the hose is about the most you’ll get. All portable units are going to have a certain amount of noise.
The only one that comes to mind is the one with no motor in it. Suction is likely a problem though.
central vacs are the quietest since they are placed in a specific location, usually a basement or cellar.
