KSDK St. Louis Cover Story by Ann Rubin on the first Vacuum Cleaner…

It’s a part of American history, a fixture in our households. Now there’s a tribute to that often underrated appliance: the vacuum cleaner. A museum dedicated to the vacuum, in all its many forms, has opened in St. James, Missouri. The museum pays tribute to this modern convenience, complete with rooms dedicated to each decade of the vacuum’s development. There are celebrity vacuum cleaners here too. One was the childhood floor sweeper of actor James Earl Jones. And another was the official vacuum of Air Force One. The Vacuum Cleaner Museum and Factory Outlet are open daily from 9 am to 5 pm with free admission. The museum is located just off Highway 44 at Exit 195. The address is #3 Industrial Drive, St. James, Missouri. For more information, visit www.vacuummuseum.com.
