Great little sweeper! But not for all types of carpets.,
This little sweeper isn’t for all carpets. I recently took my kids swimming at their grandparent’s house and while they were swimming I played with my macaw parrot which I brought along and she was making a mess all over their patio which has a short, outdoor type carpet. I felt guilty leaving all the nuts and grapes debris behind for my dad to clean so I grabbed their Oreck sweeper. I had been there many, many times before and had seen the little contraption and though what a piece of junk of a sweeper–it looks like something from the 60’s. (I own 2 Dyson vacuum cleaners, a shop vac and a couple of floor steamers). Anyhow, I wanted something really quick so I wouldn’t have to pull out their large shop vac (I did not want to hear that loud thing). I thought i’d give it a quick sweep over and then kneel down and pick up the rest with my hands, but to my amazement this so called piece of junk sweeper was picking up “everything”, as if I had vacuumed. I got a little crazed with it and kept on sweeping their whole patio of the leaves, cat food and other debris. I was so impressed that I immediately went home and ordered one for my home. I have 5 parrots and a couple of kids and this is just the thing I need for those quick clean up jobs between regular vacuum days.
When the package arrived my husband watched and thought ok, what did she order today? I was talking to him about it as I put the thing together and was boasting how it worked wonders at my parents house, etc. I saw him roll his eyes and as I started to sweep over the throw rug where the bird had been throwing her seed, he saw it pick up everything on the carpet and said “wow, order one for my parents”. I didn’t because they have carpet a bit longer that what I think this is intended for. It states, Restauranteur on top and restaurants don’t have long ply carpet. So this is for short carpet and floors. I have not tried it on any wet items yet.
Another reviewer sadly gave it only one star and was pushing some other product out there. It was their only review and I don’t believe they actually used it or they used it on the wrong surface. May have been employed by a competitor. Whatever the case it’s a handy little item and if you have the right surface and situations, then you may want to try it.
My parents had the 9″ and I purchased the 12″. It feels sturdy and the handle I think came in 3 pieces was easy to assemble. (I was so excited putting it together I didn’t pay attention.) Also, while I swept the handles never detached. The base–sweeper part is already intact, all you do is attach handle. I wanted to note that because I read other reviews for another brand of sweeper that was a big issue with the handle constantly detaching.
