  1. BRUSH the cats, it reduces the loose stuff.

Use a damp sponge on the furniture and clothes, it works better than those sticky lint brushes.

  2. Plenty of brushing on the cats (daily, but do it in the bathroom or somewhere where cleanup will be easy) and go get some dryer sheets (like bounce). Wipe your clothes with it, t.v. curtains, furniture, glass surfaces, etc. For some reason it’s really good at removing cat hair and the anti static properties in it keep the hair (and dust) from re-sticking to whatever you rub it on. (It will also keep your t.v and furniture hair/dust free longer)

  3. Brush the cats regularly. I can get by with brushing my kitten once a week, you may have to do it every day. Also, invest in a lint roller and keep up the vacuuming. The brushing will help MASSIVELY! You may want to think about changing their food to one that mentions "healthier coat"….I changed to Purina and it made a world of difference 🙂

  4. Two words: Lint roller! I could not live without one! Brush your cats frequently, and use a Pledge pet hair remover on your furniture. I also have a special sponge that you use dry, and it picks up the hair really well. If your vacuum is weak, upgrade to a better one. I have a Kenmore that would suck the carpets off the floor if they weren’t tacked down!
The next time you buy furniture, consider leather, microfiber or micro-suede. Although the micro-suede can collect pet hair, it removes easily. I have a nubby tweed-textured upholstery and it grabs hold of the hair and doesn’t want to let go! The top of my wish-list is a set of micro-suede slip-covers.
If you wash your clothes with anything "hairy" or if your cats like to snooze in the laundry basket (many do!), that is likely where the hair is coming from. It doesn’t all go away in the dryer. Use dryer sheets and/or Static Guard to cut down on static, that will make your clothes a little less "magnetic" to the hair.
These are my best tips, gleaned from a lifetime of living with cats.
