This one goes out to BowlingBallOut who posted a question about a sticky throttle on his Saturn. It was a great question so I decided to make this video in response to it. There are many different configurations of throttle assemblies but for the most part if you have a throttle that is sticking you might be able to fix it using the procedures in this video. I am aware you may not able to purchase spray throttle cleaner in some states now but I’m sure they have some alternative available at your local parts store. eric, i thing, my wife is cheating on me, what´ve should do?
HI Eric ur very detail videos i have a question for u i have 1999 ford windstar 3.0 engine all this time the check engine light has been on and ive been trying to turn it off! haha i put in a code reader and i got back p0156 bank 2 sensor 2 and p0401 circulation flow when i drive it around to a stop light it starts to sputter and sometimes it shuts off i dont want to buy a sensor then its the wrong part can u tell what might be the problem?
@PSYCHOOGGIE Probably a fuel pump.
Its inside my throttle around the blade
Hey eric what does a sticky film of black greasy substance by your throttle mean? Lol also how difficult are the ase’s I’m taking my brakes & suspension.
I have the Seafoam Spray, can I use that for cleaning the throttle? I have a 2005 Honda Civic LX
@PSYCHOOGGIE I have no idea but you might want to start by watching the Honda Idle Problem video that I did for some ideas to start with.
@MattTrevett Yea it’s fine unless your a piece of metal, the human body is not a very good conductor so you don’t have anything to worry about there.
@tonytiger33 If you don’t have a check engine light start with the basics like plugs and a fuel filter. DON’T start replacing sensors as they probably have nothing to do with it. You might also do a power balance test to see if you can find a particular cylinder that is at fault, I’ve done a video on this if that helps.
ERIC…. I HAVE A 91 CIVIC THAT DIES WHEN I COME TO A LIGHT. WHAT DO YOU THINK IT COULD BE?
Hey just curious.. is it safe to touch both terminals of the battery? I noticed your bare arm nearly brushed into the battery terminals at the same time around 1:00 in this video..
Hi Eric The Car Guy, I have a 2002 Mercury Cougar 2.5 V6 Engine. I am having a problem with Hesitation and Loss of Power upon heavy acceleration, what would you think the problem is? MAF? my Intake Runner Control not working properly? or my EGR? I am getting no check engine light, which is boggling my mind, so what do you suggest doing in this situation?
@danielalien Probably especially if the engine has some miles on it but this video is just to help with a sticking throttle.
@mrjaden92 Perhaps you got the cable or linkage bound up, that’s where I would look.
eric i think i did something wrong. i used this video to clean my throttle body (which i did) and when i put everything back together i started the car and took it for a drive.. but the gas pedal is really hard to push.. i took it back apart and realized when i push the gas pedal the butterfly only opens maybe a quarter of the way… HOWEVER my finger does allow me to open the butterfly completely so i think its a gas pedal problem? its a 98 dodge dakota..
Won’t there be quite a bit of gunk inside the intake manifold?
@anthony1bad351 Thanks for the tip, I’ll give it a try if I come across it in the future.
@drummerhero4652 I don’t think so, this video applies if your throttle is sticking, not for a no start. You might want to watch the video that I posted on Diagnosing a No Start for information on that.
@EricTheCarGuy; if you want the best cleaner use Bardahl carb and choke… I use to make it personaly and it works on every thing you need cleaned… It is expensive but it works damn good…
Can this get bad enough to the point that the car won’t start? My car only starts when it feels like it and I’m trying to find out the problem. I have a 2005 Pontiac g6 if anybody has worked on a car like it.
much talk littel work
@gnarly79 Well it’s not my car.
your terminal is corroded lol.
@checkoboy As stated in the video, to cure a sticking throttle.
what is the purpouse of this? 😀 thnx 🙂
