Smell/fragrance in our master bedroom – please help!?

I’m 3 months pregnant. Since becoming pregnant, I’ve developed an intense sense of smell – it’s very annoying and will throw up. Candles bother me now, I can’t even have a simple glade plug-in in the house anymore.

About two months ago, I stopped sleeping in the bedroom. The smell of dog urine in the carpet all of a sudden became an issue since puppy training our dog about a year ago and even though I had cleaned the spots. I’ve had a professional carpet cleaner out and it didn’t work. So stupid me went and purchased that Arm & Hammer Pet Fresh Powder and used a whole box on the room. BIG MISTAKE. I vacuumed the carpet a million times, tried soaking up the smell with bowls of vinegar placed throughout the room, trying to clear the smell out with regular baking soda, and was now faced with the issue of the fragrance from the Arm & Hammer powder hitting me like a ton of bricks when I walked up the stairwell of our home. So I called the professional carpet cleaner out again and told them my dilemma.

They cleaned the carpet again but this time they used a black light to see all the dog spots and used a spot liquid urine neutralizer on each spot and then proceeded to clean the carpet again.

While the smell of the Arm & Hammer Pet Fresh powder has lessened – there is still a combination of smell of the fragranced urine neutralizer the professionals used and this Arm & Hammer fragranced powder I used and can’t stand the smell of. The windows upstairs are constantly open and the fan only makes the smell worse. I don’t want to rip out the carpet since it’s only 2 years old, but I’m at such a loss…

So….my question is…

However, does anyone know about how long these fragrances take to finally go away???

  1. Maybe you can hasten out the smell and open a window a crack and shut the bedroom door? It should not take more than a week for the smell clear out, if it doesn’t I would invest in a good pair of nose plugs, sorry, lol.
