starting my own Housecleaning business, any tips?

I am starting my own housecleaning business and am a little nervous about it. My mom used to clean peoples houses for extra money,so I know the basics of how to do it. I just want to hear other peoples opinions. I will be charging about 45 dollars for a basic house, more if it’s bigger. I will be dusting and polishing, vacuuming, sweeping, cleaning kitchen and bathrooms, emptying trash cans, mopping. Just basic cleaning.

  1. My biggest piece of advice is learn everything you can about your state and local tax and license requirements. The Revenue or State Tax Department in your state should hold workshops that will answer a lot of your questions. Also, the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in your area should provide a lot of guidance on how to start a business. Local Chamber of Commerce offices can hook you up with SBDC offices and contacts in your area.
