I am hiring a local cleaning lady for a one-time clean and she looked at the inside of my house and said . It is her own business and her cousin helps. My house is clean for the most part, it just needs bathrooms wiped down, vacuuming, dusting, etc. to look good for a party (I ran out of time). Do you tip when it’s her own business? I was going to give total.

$15 sounds reasonable to me. Although "people" say that tipping is different for business owners, if they do the work, I generally disregard the "tipping the owner" rules. In this instance, I’d say, $15 is reasonable and if you have extra work for her to do or if you feel anything requires extra attention, you could tip a little more. Otherwise, I’d go with $15.
