I’m a foster parent and have to deal with this daily. The only thing I have found is the consistency of self discipline to always put your stuff away when you are finished with it. Everything in your room should be assigned a “home” and always put back there. As for the floor and dusting, it is inevitable that it will have to be cleaned regularly.

  1. The best thing to do is to first, make sure everything in your room has a place. Organize all of your things so that everything has somewhere to go, for example books should be on on shelves, chargers for electronics should be in a container, Pens and pencils in their own container, shoes in one place, clean clothes always hung up and put away and so on. Then after everything is organized get into the habit of when you’re done with something put it back where it belongs. Rooms become messy mainly because people don’t put things away after they are finished using them, they just leave stuff laying around everywhere. If you get into the habit of always putting your things away when you are finished with them your room will stay clean. Also set aside a day to vacuum, dust, clean your windows and do things like that. It may take some getting use to but it’ll keep your room nice and clean.

A place for everything and everything in its place.
If it doesn’t have a place then it is clutter and it is very difficult to keep a room clean if it is full of clutter. If you don’t use something or don’t need it throw it out or give it away.
Always hang up your clothes. Dirty clothes should go in the hamper.
Put your shoes away. Make your bed every morning. A bedroom just looks cleaner with a made bed.
This is just a habit you can get into, start now and as you get older this will help you be a tidy person.
Once a week dust and vacuum.
    Good Luck
