UGH! Dog hair in carpet….and everywhere! What tips do you have??

My husband’s dog nonstop SHEDS…she’s a short-haired dog, with black coarse hair (a Staffordshire Bull Terrier). Today I found her hair in the FRIDGE…so we had a heated discussion about what we’re going to do about it. (My husband does NOT care for his dog in that regards…doesn’t brush her, bathe her nor pick up her hair….I do it…and I’m quite ticked off about it)

We have berber carpet throughout most of the house and then plush in the bedrooms…linoleum in the kitchen and bathroom. BUT, I will vacuum…and then roller (lint catcher) brush the carpet and get dog hair. We have a Dirt Devil Vision…2 yrs old….new filter. I just can’t seem to get it all in the berber.

I thought maybe having our carpets steam cleaned? But does anyone have ANY tips for the dog hair!! I’m going nuts keeping this house hair-free.

  1. My boyfriends dogs shed like crazy too. He has two white German Shepards. His parents bathe the dogs once a month. Only because you don’t want to dry out a dog’s skin. Then every week his Mother will take the dogs outside and brush them. She fills plastic grocery bags FULL of their fur. Too bad it wasn’t worth any money! Someone vacuums at least once a day at their house. Therefore there’s no fur build-up on the floor.
I wouldn’t recommend steam cleaning your carpets because they’ll just get hairy again.
I hate to say this but maybe keep his dog outside (in the shade of course), then bring her in at night.
Another option is give the dog to a close friend or relative.
    Good luck!

  2. I saw in Petsmart a special shampoo for dogs who are shedding their hair. That might work and also brushing the dog often. Also vacuum ALOT!

  3. Arm n Hammer has a carpet deodorizer with pet hair release. I use it because I have cats that shed, but I don’t think they are as bad as your dog hair problem. But it’s suppose to make it easier to vacuum up the hair. I sprinkle it on my carpets and furniture and it seems to help.

  4. clean up the hair by putting arm and hammer powder for pet odors and pet hair( on the carpet) leave it there(but read the directions for how long) then vaccuum it
try to brush dog everyday and get it shaved when it gets to the point when it starts to shed again

  5. Feed the dog more potatoes.
Scrub him with a lemon based soap or just lemon peels and water.
Don’t yell. yelling stresses dogs and causes them to shed more.
    You eat more potatoes too.
    You need some.
