    This review is based on one use.
    We packed these bags empty on the way to our destination and used them for dirty clothes on our way back.
    They saved us space on the way home making room for souvenirs!
    They isolated dirty clothes so they didn’t smell up the suitcase and contents.

    They were pretty easy to use…fill, seal, roll/compress.

    Tips:
    * Don’t overfill them–that makes them impossible to roll and difficult to compress without breaking the seal.
    * The end opposite the ‘zip’ seal is where the air is removed–if you cover that or make it face the floor the air can’t go any where and you’ll be frustrated.
    * If you lose the zip assist tab–don’t worry, you can still zip it…it’s just more time consuming.

    This is my second purchase of this type of item. My first set of compression travel bags didn’t even make it through one attempt to re-zip them. But I continued to use them, employing rubber bands to to the work of the failed zippers, until they finally went the way of all plastic. Understandably, I was a bit reluctant to purchase the product again. But this time,I did a bit more homework, reading all the reviews and trying to balance the pros and cons. I was really glad that I chose the Samsonite brand because they really lived up to their claims. I used them for two weeks, unpacking and re-packing every night, and every time I went to zip them up, they stayed zipped. By using them,I had twice as many clothes as my traveling companions, yet the smallest suitcase. I am impressed.

    I’m sure vacuum compression bags take a wee bit more air out, and with much less energy. They were what we were originally going to buy. But then we realized – we needed more space in our suitcase – not our storage. Even if we compress prior to leaving, how would we guarantee a vacuum when we were headed back home?

    So we bought these. There’s an awful lot you can pack with 12 of these babies, and I ended up packing less because I was so amazed that I fit most of what I wanted in a carry on as opposed to the max-size luggage.

    Definitely recommend!
