After reading reviews — both pro & con — I decided to go with this off-brand replacement bag. For the price of ONE BAG sold by Miele, I got FIVE. Not much of a risk financially. I received the bags and immediately put one in our vacuum and used it.

It does require a little “finesse” to put it in properly, so if you’re not good with machines in general, you may want to stick with the idiot-proof name brand bags. The only real difference is that the Part you install against the vacuum’s hose connector is cardboard, not plastic and the cover is not spring-loaded to close as soon as the hose is removed. This version does have a sliding cover that does not automatically close when removed but I have not been impressed by that feature (of the Miele brand) because it doesn’t really close tightly, and is only useful when removing a full bag. If you push hard on the full bag, dust and debris will come escape from either brands closure.

My recommendation: Unless you have a strong need for the “this end up” arrow on the mounting board save a bundle by buying this generic bag. Also: Make sure you have the right replacement bag letters for the bags — if you buy “F” series bags instead of these GN bags, for example, you might be able to force the bag into the holder, but it won’t have a good seal and may damage your machine if you don’t notice it right away.

I found these bags to do the job about as well as the Miele-branded ones. Sure, you can tell there’s some corner-cutting going on and the materials aren’t as high quality. Some people complained about it not having a little door, but I complained that the little door never worked anyway, so whatever. In the end, I find that these hold dirt as well as anything, so I’m happy.
