prettyflowersss need help to clarify doubt about: : what could explain hyposplenism as a common finding in celiac disease?
why patients with celiac disease also have hyposplenism and that can be seen by detection of howell-jolly bodies in the RBCs?

Hyposplenism is not common in celiac disease and the mechanism for the association is not known.
Give your answer to this question below!
Hyposplenism is common in celiacs, especially adults.
It is my opinion that hyposplenism results from HLA-A. Due to the presence of HLA-B8 and -DR3 in a vast number of patients, it can not be ruled out that HLA-A plays a causal role in this process.
Ultimately, the close relationship that can be demonstrated between hyposplenism and the morphology of the small intestine indicates a point of interest for further studies. The severity of hyposplenism increases with advancing age and prolongation of exposure to dietary gluten.
The link at this time is unknown but any time the auto-immune system is invloved, a complex explanation awaits.
I am not sure if you were asking what howell-jolly bodies indicated but I will include it here in case that was the second part to your question:
Because of decreased spleen fitness, some eryhrocytes, the ones that are formed with partial DNA still attached as they circulate (shown as purple on red on a blood smear) are not “cleaned” (for simplicity sake), and therefore still show up.
I hope this helps.
