  1. Shop – Vac makes a smaller, indoor version which has a decent motor, brush attachments and the option to use a bag. I think it’s still called the "all around." I have three kids, a dog, cat and rabbit, and very little carpet and I’ve found this little shop-vac does the trick nicely. Very cheap too.

    However, if you have a lot of carpet and you still won’t pay for a decent vac. Shark has a new upright, which is very small, but has a powerful motor, and it has the powerhead you will almost certainly need for carpeted areas. It’s around 100$

  2. Look for a Vacuum repair shop and see what they have. Our local dealers always has rebuilt vacuums available. top name brands at reasonable prices and warranties.
