Whats a Quick and SUFFICIENT way to clean your house? Any wives…

I just got my first REAL cleaning job.. I love to clean and all, I clean my own house all the time.. and I do a really good job.. I’m just thinking of, what will be the best way to clean someone elses BIG house, and what are good products to use?

Obviously I dont want to be there all day.. 3-4 hours sounds right.

I’m buying my own products to use, so feel free to recommend stuff!
I’m doing ALL The basics, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning the kitchen.. floors, bathrooms.. Cat litter. Windows.. Ect!

I’m thinking those Lysol wipes would be GREAT! to wipe down the bathroom, also kitchen appliances.

I also think Febreeze would be great to spray all the furniture (lightly) and leave a fresh smell in each room. .

Any products to stay away from? I dont want to use bleach! to smelly.. and dangerous in someone else house!

Feel free to give me any tips to do it as as quick and sufficient as possible 🙂

Thanks in advance

  1. Some of my favorite multi-use products are Scrubbing Bubbles spray for leaving sinks and fixtures looking nice and shiny, and Pine-Sol for cleaning the floors and tubs. You can use the Scrubbing Bubbles as a toilet cleaner too.

The problem with the wipes is they don’t get into crevasses very well, and they can leave dried-on spills behind. Check with them to make sure they don’t have any major allergy issues before you use the Febreze, but that’s a nice idea.

Get the sink and tub cleansers on at the beginning, that gives it time to sink into the stains.

  2. Well i used to be a cleaner for a large motor company in the UK, every morning from 4am-7am, six days a week.

I worked flat out to do the amount of cleaning i did in that 3 hours. One massive office upstairs with table & chairs at each desk, bins to clear, a conference room, a staff kitchen, his & her toilets, corridor, stairs, main sales showroom, a kids playroom, a further office & a tea room!

Phew, just brought back some memories how i got it all done in that time!, believe me time flew by.

This is what i was provided with:

3 sets of cleaning aids for different areas, all colour coded.

Blue was for general areas, yellow was for kitchens, red was for toilets.

This included 3 sets of gloves/marigolds, 3 sets of clothes, 3 sets of scrubbing brushes. A duster, polish, cleaning sprays, an air freshener, a mop & bucket.

I had a "ghost buster" type hoover that strapped to my back which i wore everywhere as it was light & really handy!

Tips: Start at the top & work your way down, so any dusting do first then hoover. Don’t bother with wipes they are too expensive in the long run, a good dose of elbow grease & any good general purpose cleaner will shift most dirt/grime.

I did not supply my cleaning products so cannot comment on what they were (sorry) as the bottles were as mentioned before colour coded & just topped up for me when they needed filling.

Best of luck & let us know how you get on :0)

ps: I used to be a member of BICS, the British Institute of Cleaning Science headed by Sir David Bellamy. Some very handy tips on there.

  3. Windex for daily cleaning like bathroom fixtures kitchen faucets, even counter tops leaves everything shining. Baking soda for toilets. Spot vacuum if you are their more than once a week hope this helps.

  4. We use a Swiffer Wet Jet to clean the bathrooms at work and it’s amazing.
It’s tons faster than mopping and it smells good!
I’ve also found that Method brand cleaners (sold at Target) do a really great job and they smell better than regular cleaners.

  5. I carry a tote or like a "bucket" that I keep all of my essentials in (lysol wipes, windex, toilet brush – end wrapped in a bag – paper towels, pledge, gloves, rag, etc) I carry it from room to room and bathroom to bathroom. I also tie a grocery plastic bag on the handle for trash. I can clean much faster that way. I use a lot of vinegar diluted in water to clean baseboards and all with. I usually dust first and vacuum last with everything else in between. I moved from small house to a large house and this is the easiest way.
