Why is my pool cloudy?

Ok….so i am getting REALLY frustrated here, my mom had been bringing water samples to a place called Ricks pools, first they tell her that the chlorine level is to high, then they tell her its to low. After we put in the chlorine tablets and shocked the **** out of it it got clear for….well for a day. Then it turned really GREEN. On 7-19-10 I poured in 10 ounces of algecide then yesterday 7-20-10 I got in the pool and vacuumed all of the green out but its still really cloudy. My mom has been and is going to bring another sample of water back to Ricks tomorrow 7-22-10 to see what they say, but for some reason I feel like were getting screwed. I will have more details of EXACTALLY what they say and the readings of everything after she goes tomorrow but for now can someone please give me any tips or advice, I don’t know if they will help but i took a few picture’s of the pool, here is the link to see them. Thank you http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy26/cjg72789/Pool/?action=view&current=pool003.jpg

  1. My pool turned green too. Just brush it every day and check the chlorine level. Every time it’s low, add a little bit. If you have a chlorinator thing for your pool, there might be something wrong with it, and you’ll have to add chlorine continually. That’s what happened to us.

  2. Chlorine is used to kill algae and bacteria. A ‘clarifier’ is used to ‘clear’ the water by clumping these dead algae so it can be vacuumed out. Hence clearing the water.
