Will the smell EVER leave my car?

About 3-4 weeks ago, one of my friends threw up in my car. Threw up A LOT.
We went to Olive Garden right before..so it was spaghetti vomit.
Ughhhhh. It’s the worst smell ever.
It was at night, so I couldn’t clean all of it up right away.
The next day, I scrubbed it with 409 really well.
It smelled okay for a few days and then the vomit smell came back.
So, I washed it with vinegar. Which helped, but then it smelled like vinegar.
So, I got some of that fragranced carpet powder stuff, let it sit for a few days and then vacuumed it up.
The smell of vomit is STILL there!

What should I do? Will it ever just air out and go away?
Any tips would be helpful… (:
I’m thinking of getting it professionally cleaned..but what kind of places do that? Is there a place?

  1. Go to a detailer and they will fix it and make it all better. I had someone throw up in my car once and tried everything. The detailing worked. Find a car wash that does detailing and make sure you tell them up front what the problem is and ask them if they can "fix" it. There are some frauds in the detail business. I know how you feel. It is a smell that makes you want to puke every time you smell it.

  2. Here’s a Better ( & alot CHEAPER ) Idea… Go to your favorite Fast-Food joint, order your favorite take-out meal there, & eat it IN your Car with the Windows closed. Wait ONE Hour- & then throw the food wrappers away. Your car will smell a LOT better (& for not NEARLY as long as when your friend Upchucked in It !! ). 🙂

  3. You need to find a detailer. Typically a service like this will cost about $150.00 to 200.00. Or get a steam machine from the market and have your friend help you.

  4. Car groomers will professionally clean your car for you. You may have missed a bit which is why the smell is still there, or it’s just really soaked in. Keep the windows of your car open as much as possible. If you do go to a car groomer, point out the area where the mess was and ask for extra cleaning in that spot.

  5. Take it to a detail shop. You should be able to find one in the phone book they are every where! You could try to shampoo your carpets with a hand shampooer a few times? Im sorry sometimes it just takes the smell a while to go away.

    Good luck!
