How can I win the battle against cat hair?

I live in a one bedroom apartment with my two cats and it seems like there is just cat hair on everything. It doesn’t help that I am allergic to cats. I just try to avoid the things with a lot of cat hair on them but it would be better if they were clean. I have carpet in my bedroom and an area rug in my living room and the vacuum does not seem to suck the cat hair off of them. The other annoying thing is furniture- the vacuum doesn’t seem to work on that either and my cats love to sleep on the couches. I have slip covers and it would be nice to de-fur them without washing them all the time. Any suggestions on good vacuums for pet fur? Do those plug in air purifiers help with pet hair at all? I welcome any and all tips for better controlling pet hair!

  1. Get a better vacuum, and one with a HEPA filter. What you have is obviously not up to the job. I highly recommend getting a canister one with a beater brush and all the attachments.
