Its sucks! Like it is SUPPOSED to! Amazing product!, August 16, 2011

Where to start? This is an amazing vacuum!!! We decided to put a good sum of money into a vacuum due to family health issues with asthma and allergies, and in our research the Miele line is in the top 10 list. We were fearful of spending so much on a vacuum for the first time but decided to give it a chance…

We got more than we expected! This vacuum is unbelievable. It has several joints for swiveling, and with a simple twist of the wrist you can vacuum in circular motions to move around table legs, or to swing it over to edges without a “bang.” It can also bow down very low so you can actually travel deeper under the bed or coffee table than any other vacuum.

It is a heavy unit, yes, so working on the staircase is more challenging, but that is the ONLY con–no, not a con really, just a fact that if you want something with true power and quality its going to have some meat to its bones!!!

The suction of this vacuum is VERY powerful; surprising when you hear how quiet it is compared to a Wal-mart-sold Shark, which shrieks with its tiny engine. Our first run in our two-story house left us feeling like we never vacuumed before as we heard the crackling sound of dirt being lifted from the carpet. We had just used our old vacuum days before–it should have been clean! The carpet looks great after its pass, and we see no sign of wear at all.

Our kitchen is tile, and again this monster did the job spectacularly. Previously, every other vacuum we used would just push dirt around on tile, and we never bothered to vacuum in the kitchen, we would just sweep. But this is no longer necessary!

We were wary of a bag-based vacuum, concerned with expense again. Well, we bought this vacuum in April 2011. We just changed the bag today, August 16 2011, though it looks like it still has some room. That is a LONG time! Its suction power compacts the dirt in the bag so tightly it conserves space for more.

The hose and attachments are great; We now vacuum our curtains! Great for long reaches to ceiling corners without using a chair.

We love how smart the machine is; once you pull it upright, it automatically shuts off the carpet rotors so you don’t accidentally damage your floor. Very nice feature. Also, the lights are actually helpful under tables or chairs and in corners.

We can’t say enough about this. It has helped us with our home health issues greatly.

We have only one piece of advice; just like any vacuum, make sure you don’t use it to pick up stuff you know you shouldn’t, like large pieces of paper, etc. We did have one jam in its tubes due to an accidntal sucking of a few clothing tags.
We thought it stopped working properly, as we was dirt spraying in front of the lights. Then we dug into the tube and saw the jam. This accident is what provoked us to write this review; the jam was deep in teh tubing towards the bottom. We then noticed a section in teh back of the vacuum that has large black screws. We opened it up and lo! it was an access port to the tubing! There we found the jam!!!! Miele, very clever people, put in a port for deep jams!!! I have never seen anything like this before!!!

Another piece of advice; the color is a pale yellow…we love it actually! The whole vacuum looks like a 1950’s automobile parked in front of a Soda shop! But, when going under the bed or under furniture (for those quick jobs when you don’t move furniture out of the way) if you tap the furniture you can scratch the Jazz, leaving dark stains on it, so be careful going under beds, try not to allow the unit to bang into furniture.

Fantastic vacuum, Miele Jazz, May 11, 2010

I’ve had the Jazz for only a week now, but in that time it has exceeded my expectations.

I’ve owned Eureka, Panasonic, Dirt Devil, and Dyson. They died within 3-5 years, or were just ineffective (Dirt Devil was both). Compared to the Miele, these other vacuums sound as loud as jet engines. I find the Dyson DC-14 particularly loud and harsh. The Miele is really quiet (for a vacuum), and the noise that it does make isn’t unpleasant; e.g., it’s not too high pitched or whiny.

Before using the Miele for the first time, I vacuumed the house with my Eureka SmartVac Boss. I know, the Eureka is a non-starter in the world of boutique vacuums. However, I always thought the Eureka did an OK job of keeping the carpet clean on a day to day basis. As you might predict, the Miele picked up a significant amount of dirt and hair that the Eureka had apparently been missing. Looking in the Miele bag, you might guess that the carpet it just cleaned hadn’t been vacuumed in 6 months. Also, the carpet felt softer after using the Miele. The stairs have Berber on them, and the Miele was able to lift the loop-pile back up like no other vacuum has been able to. It wasn’t like the Berber was new again (it’s well worn and crushed down), but the Miele brush brought more life back into these worn stairs than any other vacuum I’ve tried.

The maneuverability of the S7 series Miele is fantastic. The swivel neck is not a gimmick; it really works. It’s so easy to get the unit around corners, and if you just want straight lines that’s no problem either. The Miele’s ability to lay flat is also convenient. Often, however, I’ve found I can’t get too far under something because the Miele is still too tall.

I haven’t used any of the attachments yet, but the hose is sufficiently long for me. A previous commenter noted how she couldn’t get up a full flight of stairs with just the hose. I don’t use the hose that way, so I can’t comment specifically to that point. I just pick the vacuum up and use the main brush on the stairs. In doing this, I don’t find the Miele too heavy, but I haven’t quite figured out how to do this and hold it comfortably. When I do the stairs, I go down backwards. When I did this with previous vacuums, I would always feel a bit of the dirt flying back and hitting my shins. This doesn’t happen with the Miele. The Miele, apparently, seals the vacuuming area well enough so that everything gets sucked up into the bag. This is great when doing hard floors too, and it’s a breeze to switch the brush motor on and off (just flip a switch).

As with one reviewer, I experienced a clicking noise. For me, that was because the vacuum sucked up a piece of hard plastic that got stuck near the roller. I just had to remove it. No big deal.

The brush sensor is a nice feature. This will stop the brush when it senses that something has gotten tangled up. I accidentally sucked up the corner of a dress, but the roller automatically stopped and the dress was not damaged at all. On the flip side, I also ran over the cord and stripped it pretty far down in less than 2 seconds. This demonstrates both how powerful the brush is and how dumb I am. I have run over vacuum electrical cords my entire life, but I’ve never had one stripped by the vacuum brush this quickly or completely (most vacuums I’ve had won’t strip the cord at all, especially not within 2 seconds as the Miele did). That’s a powerful brush.

In short, this is a wonderful vacuum. It does a better job than any other vacuum I’ve owned. I could buy several $300 vacuums over the next 10-15 years, or I could just buy one Miele (I got mine for $599 locally) that will (hopefully) last 20 years, and end up saving money and having cleaner carpets in the process. So, I bought the Miele, and I love it.

The best Vaccum Cleaner ever made!!!, November 4, 2009
    By
    Gordong11 (New Jersey) –

I can tell you without a doubt that this is, by far, the best vacuum I have ever used, and I have tried them all. I was a user of the dyson animal and hated it because I hate not having a bag. The dust bin gets disgusting and difficult to clean, so I moved to an Oreck. I loved the Oreck so lightweight and did a decent a job.

Now my friend went to charity auction, and came home with the Miele S7, how weird. But I gave this whirl and omg I was in love. This thing is whisper quiet, you can actually vacuum while a baby is sleeping. The Vacuum Bag holds everything, not a spec of dust escapes, which is perfect because I’m dust sensitive. Finally it really picks up everything, the suction is superb. Oh yea, it’s extremely maneuverable as well.

It is however on the tad heavy side, but only because the build quality is so good. Despite this it is easy to vacuum my entire house without getting tired.

So, unless you need a lightweight vacuum, this is the one to buy! you will very satisfied. I ended up buying one the next day after trying it.
